The "Healing Woods" Tour
A dying tuberculosis victim wrote of how she was healed in body and in spirit during a sojurn in the Adirondack Wilderness with old-time guide Fred Rice. Retrace Rice's boat route to the remote encampment described in the classic book "The Healing Woods."

Hike an easy 4.5 miles to a beautiful Interior Outpost and waterfall. Then paddle 6 miles downstream along a historic wilderness river corridor. Adirondack Foothills can outfit your unguided tour or provide outfitting and a guide.

Day trips and over-night camping trips: Choose remote or well-traveled lakes and ponds. Canoe routes are connected by short portages. Our outstanding paddle trips are a pleasant way to hone your paddling skills while spending time away from civilization.
