HIKING

Featured Trip
We lead trips to some of the forty-six High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Spend a day in High Peaks splendor or begin a life-journey with an experienced ’46er.’ Many of the High Peaks have stunning summit views and fragile alpine flora. Hikes are moderately paced on trails or herd paths, and effort needed to hike these trails varies from moderate to strenuous. We are knowledgeable about trip preparation and High Peaks regulations and can help you avoid making mistakes.

Day Hiking
Explore beautiful and isolated Nun-da-ga-o Ridge on a herd-path to Lost Pond. Choose a journey into wild Avalanche Pass. Or choose a hike to scenic Wanika Falls via the Northville-Placid Trail. There are literally hundreds of options for day hikers. Plan your Tupper Lake Triad adventure. Three family-friendly open summits can be traversed in one day or over multiple days. Visit all three to earn a Triad patch and number. Trail distances are 2 to 3 miles round-trip. One summit hosts an historic and accessible fire tower: During the warm seasons, a summit steward educator is on duty Thursday – Sunday.

Half Day Trips
Choose an easier trip, perhaps to Saranac Lake’s Mt. Baker or Tupper Lake’s Panther Mountain. Lake Placid’s Mt. Jo or Mt. Van Hoevenberg offers breathtaking vistas. Ampersand Mt. is a splendid but more demanding trip. Or maybe you prefer a swim at the secluded sandy Round Pond beach or the deep, clear water at Copperas Pond. We can tailor almost any event to your desire, ability and time frame.
